The National Collaborative of State Planners

A Project of APA's Regional & Intergovernmental Planning Division

The National Collaborative of State Planners is a project of the Regional and Intergovernmental Planning Division (RIGP) of the American Planning Association (APA) . Established in 2013, its purpose is to provide a network that facilitates the discussion of best practices at the state level and to serve as a space where planners may share the planning initiatives of their home states.

On this website, you will find a number of examples of best practices for state level planning that have been implemented. If you know of or have been part of a state level initiative that you think is an example of a best practice, please submit a blog post to us.

Prior to its creation, there existed no concrete place within the American Planning Association or any planning association for State Level Planners in all fifty states to collaborate. It is the hope of the APA’s Regional and Intergovernmental Planning Division, that RIGP will be able to provide that place. If you would like to become involved with the leadership of the Collaborative, please contact us.
